Capitol Endurance

Going long in Washington D.C.

Answering some questions

I love hearing the buzz around Capitol Endurance and it’s great to know that there are many people interested. However, I also know there are issues with time, location, day, and just not sure what the program includes. Here’s my attempt to answer questions you might have but aren’t asking.

Q:  So what is this Capitol Endurance stuff?

Glad you asked! Capitol Endurance (CE) is the endurance team within CrossFit Capitol Hill, the strength and conditioning program of the DC Strokes. We want to work with those people who have a love for Crossfit and a tolerance for love of running.

Q: I like running, but I don’t want to run a marathon.. can I still participate?

Of course! CE is for anyone looking to improve their running form, improve their runs for CF wods, train for a 5K, or run a marathon injury free.

Q: I can’t get to the boathouse until 7pm. Is there a chance you’ll have 2 sessions at night or move it to the later time?

I understand there are time constraints with getting out of work and getting to the boathouse on Tuesday and Thursday. The times are tentative. Please email if you’re interested and time is an issue – too early, too late, etc. I’ll see if there’s enough interest to have classes on different days/times if the demand is there.

Q: What if I can only make it for the weekends. Can I still participate?

You bet. Again, for the first few weeks we’ll work on solidifying a time that fits everyone, but I’d rather you participate than sit on the sidelines. There will be a small cost associated with the Weekend Only session.

Q: So I’m still not sure I’m sold on the endurance program. Is there a way I can try it out for a few sessions?

Absolutely! Check us out for FREE the first week – March 2nd, 4th, and 7th. We will talk about efficient running, practice a few drills, try the new way of running with 200-400m repeats, do a group workout, and end with some stretching.

Q: That’s pretty sweet. Is there anything I need to do between now and then?

Yes. Email me (Jen) at capitolendurance@gmail.com so I know who will be there. If I don’t get any emails, I will be there all by my lonesome. Please include what day you plan to be there (Tu,Th, Su; only Su) or if you can’t make it and what time on Tues/Thurs would be better for you.  I want to get a head count.

It’s that simple, folks! Email me, show up with an open mind, and be ready to have fun.

Opening Day – March 2nd

Folks, let’s get it started!

Mark you calendars – March 2nd will be our first workout – rain or shine!

We will meet at the boathouse to talk shop and go over running form. Weather (and sunlight) permitting we’ll do some drills outside and get everyone on video.

In the meantime, check out the website Crossfit Endurance to familiarize yourself with the methodology and types of workouts we will be doing.

Email me if you have any questions.

Cheers!

Hello and welcome!

Welcome to Capitol Endurance hosted by CrossFit Capitol Hill.

This is a new site that will be updated in the coming weeks to introduce you to a new training experience offered by Crossfit Capitol Hill (CFCH).

First off, if you are interested in participating with our endurance program, you do NOT have to be a member of CFCH. What we ask is that you use CrossFit as your primary method of training. You can be training at another gym or be doing CrossFit on your own at home or at a local gym. Please note that the CrossFit Endurance methodology will be combined with CrossFit to help you reach your training and racing goals.

Be patient as we are still working to set up a fee structure plan for current CFCH members and non-members. We want to create a training plan suitable for all abilities and all distances – 800m, 5k, half marathon, or 50 miler.

We are for anyone looking to train for their first marathon, improve their 5K, or improve their runs for workouts (wods). Don’t let the word ‘endurance’ be deceiving! Your training program will be based on the even that you choose. There will be local races the group will train for as well as organized workouts throughout the week. There will also be workshops and video analysis to help improve your running form.

Keep an eye on the website for updates and please email if you have any questions. We are excited about this addition to CrossFit Capitol Hill and look forward to having you on the Capitol Endurance Team.
